The Baraka Youth Association (BYA) is for the benefit of children and young people living in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, in particular those of Somali and other ethnic minority backgrounds. A rough translation of Baraka might be ‘good luck’.
BYA principal activities and aims include advice and information, educational advancement, recreational and other leisure occupations in the interests of social welfare in order to develop the physical, mental and educational capacities of young people so that they can grow to full maturity as individuals and members of the wider society and thus improve their condition and circumstances.
